RECRUIT
The NW Georgia FAMU Alumni Association will continue to develop a positive relationship with secondary schools and community colleges by informing prospective students, counselors, advisors, administrators and instructional staff of the program offerings at FAMU.
We hope to serve as a liaison between all inquiries through college fairs, educational seminars, community outreach, and requests for recruitment materials.
RETAIN
The NW Georgia FAMU Alumni Association will work in conjunction with the FAMU Division of Student Affairs to deliver student-centered services and programs, creating a safe and healthy campus climate that attracts and retains motivated students and while attempting to remove all barriers to graduation.
RENEW
The NW Georgia FAMU will seek to extend alumni membership to every transplanted Rattler in the Northwest Georgia area. We hope to awaken the spirit of "Excellence with Caring" that lives within every Rattler while renewing the commitment to being a life-long Rattler, spreading the love of FAMU throughout the world.
ABOUT US
On May 1, 2018, a group of eight proud Florida A&M University (FAMU) graduates who served as educators at South Cobb High School in Austell, Georgia, met after school to fellowship and to share memories related to their beloved university. The teachers were Kaisha Johnson, Jacqueline Valentine, Kemberlee Bunting, Dr. Jason James, Coy McCall, James Wilson, Rika Wheaton, and Sharia Collins. During the meeting, the educators discussed the financial needs of the students at the high school who planned to attend FAMU in the fall. The educators agreed that there was a need to help educate and prepare students who planned to attend FAMU and other schools. Additionally, the group members determined that they wanted to continue to meet together in fellowship, to support students, and to support FAMU in a larger capacity. Consequently, the educators decided to create an alumni chapter in Northwest Georgia. During the chartering process, additional FAMU graduates and supporters joined the chapter. The members were Jazmine Bowman, Aisha Broderick, Battiste Broadus, K’Asha Davis, LaTressa N. Davis, Pamela Henry, Ebony Hillsman, Twyla Hinton, Felecia Hudson, Marvin Prather, Charmaine Rosser, Stephanie Sanders, Quiana Woodruff, Ashley Young, Oneisha Young, Oscar Young, Joan Baskett, and Stephani Wilford.
The Northwest Georgia chapter focuses on being friendly, family-oriented, and service-centered. It continues to flourish under the leadership of President Ebony Hillsman and Vice-President Kaisha Johnson, respectively, as well as the other officers.
