ABOUT
On May 1, 2018, a group of eight proud Florida A&M University (FAMU) graduates who served as educators at South Cobb High School in Austell, Georgia, met after school to fellowship and to share memories related to their beloved university. The teachers were Kaisha Johnson, Jacqueline Valentine, Kemberlee Bunting, Dr. Jason James, Coy McCall, James Wilson, Rika Wheaton, and Sharia Collins. During the meeting, the educators discussed the financial needs of the students at the high school who planned to attend FAMU in the fall. The educators agreed that there was a need to help educate and prepare students who planned to attend FAMU and other schools. Additionally, the group members determined that they wanted to continue to meet together in fellowship, to support students, and to support FAMU in a larger capacity. Consequently, the educators decided to create an alumni chapter in Northwest Georgia. During the chartering process, additional FAMU graduates and supporters joined the chartering efforts. Additional charter members include Jazmine Bowman, Aisha Broderick, Battiste Broadus, K’Asha Davis, LaTressa N. Davis, Pamela Henry, Ebony Hillsman, Twyla Hinton, Felecia Hudson, Marvin Prather, Charmaine Rosser, Stephanie Sanders, Quiana Woodruff, Ashley Young, Oneisha Young, Oscar Young, Joan Baskett, and Stephani Wilford.
The Northwest Georgia chapter focuses on being friendly, family-oriented, and service-centered. It continues to flourish under the leadership of President Kaisha Johnson and Vice-President Jason James, respectively, as well as the listed executive officers.
